Hey Beer Farmers,
April is upon us, and we are rolling into another month of fun! We always keep it funky here on the Beer Farm. This is a #FUNK post for sure – the where and when to be present so that the present beyond our beer, is entertainment! Here we go – let’s run it down a little. Who likes poetry? Don’t all answer at once, and if you are thinking poetry as in: Robert Frost, or Shakespeare…well, we aren’t talking that kind of poetry – we are talking about hair spiking fun and real live, poetry! Logan Phillips, Damien Flores, ABQ Poet Laureate Jessica Helen Lopez, Jeanetta Calhoun Mish, Nick DePascal, and our very own Carlos Contreras will be on stage – April 4th 7pm FREE as part of the Wild Wild West End Press Poetry Showcase, happening at Tractor Brewing Wells Park – with DJ Dirty Verbs following up at 9pm.
Feel more like some art on a Saturday night, than words? That’s ok. We have something for you who want to drink a beer and listen to some tunes, maybe just check out some awesome art, or buy a print or TWO – Jodie Herrera has organized the Print and Illustration Extravaganza at Tractor Brewing Nob Hill, complete with a DJ – we kick things off at 6pm, and party until the prints go home – with YOU! Come on out and support local artists and art at this FREE art opening.
Post weekend, as we move into the work week, we move into the final episode of Better Call Saul. The newest and coolest show in town is coming to a close, for now. April 6th at 8pm, come and see Better Call Saul. Win prizes from A Good Sign – limited edition prints that were made only for cast and crew of Breaking Bad – we will also have Combo on site signing autographs, Hometown Heroez, Tom Lamb, Guerilla Graphix, and MORE will all be giving things away. The final prize is the highly coveted BUS BENCH – need not be present to win, but it would be really cool if you were! Not to mention, Cloudface will paint and auction more than one art piece for the final time, for quite some time.
As we move deeper into the month, we have our monthly offering of Poetry and Beer, on April 14th at 7pm – but this one comes with a twist. We will announce the winners of our 16oz of Poetry Contest – that’s right – you need only be 21+ to enter, and write a 16 line poem about beer, that you send to contest@getplowed.com – the rest is sud-busting history – enter now! Win prizes from Bookworks and Tractor Brewing Company, in this contest supported by those two businesses, and our friends at ABQ Slams.
When you are looking for something grown and sexy to do – look no further fellas, and ladies – you’ve found it on the 18th of April – we host Mercy and the Smokin’ Hot Freak Show – a show designed to reclaim and redefine the term “freak.” We know everyone has something a little “freaky” inside – we are bringing the Beer Farm to life with Circus Burlesque the night of the 18th. Most everything on the Beer Farms is free – but this one, we just have to let only those who want to pay a little bit, see… it is only $10 – starts at 9pm, and will blow your mind! Trust us!
One last one, when you wake up hung over and decide you need a beer to right that afternoon, show up at 1pm, and stick around for the 4pm of I’LL Drink To That on the 19th of April – it is 36 shows in the making, and 3yrs old, on the 19th of April! Expect familiar and new faces to every part of the show and stage that day – regular host Carlos Contreras will be in awe, tears, and smiles for the support Burque has provided – come buy a beer and enjoy the art!
