#CraftCurriculum – Because it’s #AllThingsCraft: Beer, Community, Art

GetPlowedBlog

Hey Beer Farmers,

We hope you all are doing well out there in the world. We are doing great here on the Beer Farm. So many new things are happening, and we are just happy to keep adding hops, and hip to your life – get it – hip, and hops….? No? Anyway, we love working to make sure that not only our beer pours cold and tasty for your enjoyment, and that our stage lights stay hot and our entertainment leaves you in awe of how a brewery can do so much! We love taking risks, inviting community into non-traditional spaces, and otherwise just doing anything once! We have some things coming up that we hope happen far more than one time, in fact we hope to offer these “classes,” year round; Tractor is proud to announce the launch of our “Craft Curriculum.”

What is it? Well, it is what it sounds like, in the fact that it is “school,” like. We know, we know, not everyone in our tap rooms “loved” school. Don’t worry friends – our shot at “school,” is more like a list of electives, taught by community artists – in fact, that’s not what it is “like,” that is what it IS! Intrigued? We sure hope so. When can you start? That might be the next question you have. We have an answer.

August 1st, you can be part of a writing workshop geared toward issues of social justice. 1st Draught a writer’s workshop, hosted by Carlos Contreras, will explore issues in our community and express the emotions surrounding them. There will be a number of accessible writing exercises, conversations, and of course a pint of beer for those that pay the $7-10 suggested donation – but the real meat of the workshop will be reflective of the group present. Co-Creators of JustWrite, Carlos Contreras and Diahndra Grill are practitioners of workshops in a way that facilitates healing, and expression, art, and community – JustWrite is gearing up for a public art show/installation, and the products of some of these processes just might make the cut! Cheers! See you there Saturday August 1st at 1pm.

August 2nd, you can experience: Gesture Drawing & Beers with the Bergens. It is a class that focuses on creation in the moment. Gesture drawing is about process more than product, and one being able to let go, and have some fun with the process of creation. Taught by Tractor’s own Alexis Bergen aka Sparrow, and her mother Kerry Bergen, this class will be a welcoming environment for artists of ALL levels. Anyone can come, you just have to be 21+. Those that aren’t 21, need be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The class will run you $20, but that will include all your supplies, and a pint of your choosing! Sound great? See you here – August 2nd at 1pm.

Last but not least, for now, the third offering in this list of things to do is the one we have been building for the longest amount of time, but the one that we think folks are just simply going to go nuts for! Art Goggles: Painting With Cloudface, will take place at Tractor Wells Park on August 9th, from 2-4pm. That’s right, you’ve seen him paint LIVE, now come create with him as the teacher, drink a pint, and take your canvas home! Again, all supplies provided, just bring yourself, and a parent or guardian if you are under 21. This class is recommended for adults and or children over the age of 14 with a parent or guardian. There is a ticket link on the event page, and pre-registration is heavily encouraged! Can’t wait to see you paint!

There you have it Beer Farmers – more than just beer! We are excited about all the possibilities and sure hope you are too! See you soon at one of our classes! Cheers to all things craft: beer, community, and art – until next time!
