Based out of Austin, TX, Beth Lee grew up on the grit and soul of the Houston music scene, her dad a long time musician of the Bayou City. Since recording her first album in 2008, Lee has been playing her evolving blend of alternative music and roots rock ‘n’ roll. Waiting on You Tonight, produced by Chuck Prophet & the Mission Express drummer Vicente Rodriguez, utilizes her diverse influences, from her nineties love of the ethereal vocals of Hope Sandoval, to the pop-friendly melodies of sixties girl groups, and the southern soul of Stax Records. It received praise from Glide Magazine, Americana Highways, and No Depression, among others – “An 11-song sequence that highlights the Austin-based artist’s songwriting craft and performative charisma, Waiting on You Tonight emerges as one of 2021’s early benchmarks for Americana album of the year”- No Depression. Beth Lee’s new LP Hardly Matters, a followup with producer Rodriguez, explores new sounds, leaning into nineties alternative, new wave, and indie rock for an album that draws comparisons to Liz Phair, Blondie, and Courtney Barnett.
