Berliner Weisse

Berliner Weisse

Style originated in 16th century Germany as a wheat beer that was bottled and then buried in warm ground to ferment again. This created a sour and acidic beer that could be mixed with fruit syrups and other styles of beer & became the most popular alcoholic beverage in the region by the 19th century. We have created this beer in the traditional method of allowing the wort to “sour” before fermentation. You will notice a light straw color body and a clean white head. It has a sour lemon flavor, slight fruitiness and puckering mouth feel.
